1st Annual Zam Zam Water Charity Gala

July 26, 2015

Assalaamulaikam!

On July 26, 2015, we held our 1st annual Zam Zam Water Charity Gala with over 180 guests. Our beneficiary project was the Imam Bukhari Orphanage Project located in Kabul, Afghanistan. We were raising funds to feed, clothe, and provide tools for teachers and students to learn for an entire year. Through the generosity of Tarek Abdel, whom matched every donation $ for $, we raised over $51,000! Thanks to those who attended our event. It was a tremendous success.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank and update everyone on our first annual charity gala. Our event was held in Fremont, CA on July 26, 2015 with over 180 guests in attendance. Our goal for the night was to celebrate our successes with past projects, provide an update on our financial reports, and raise money for our collaboration with the Zakat Certified Imam Bukhari Orphanage in Kabul, Afghanistan. Since the start of Ramadan we have been raising money to sponsor all 273 orphans and provide them with clean school uniforms, school supplies, primary and Islamic school education costs, lunches, and cover the costs of the orphanage's expenses for the next year. Through the generous donations of our guests, sponsors, and an anonymous donor who matched all donations the night of the event $ for $ we proudly raised over $51,000 mashAllah! This huge milestone would not have been possible without the loyal support of our friends, family, guests, donors, vendors, and sponsors. As much as this night was about celebrating our accomplishments it was equally to recognize and appreciate everyone who was there with us from the beginning. We have many big projects in the works and hope you all continue to advocate and support our cause. Below, we have highlighted some memories from the event.

Over 180 guests were in attendance at our first annual charity gala, Alhamdulillah. Prior to the event starting guests were able to mingle and enjoy live music from ASWAT Bay Area Arabic Music Ensemble, Pervez Sakhi and Izmarai Arif- Rubab and Tabla and DJ Afghan Lounge.

Each person who bought a ticket was treated to a sit down dinner which included a 3 course halal meal, live music, entertainment, opportunity to enter our raffle to win prizes, and received updates on all past and future projects.

Our guest speaker for the night was Dr. Hatem Bazian, Co-founder and Senior Faculty of Academic Affairs at Zaytuna College in Berkley, CA. We are grateful for the partnership from such a strong community leader, we were all inspired by his words of wisdom, and his continued support of our organization.

Our founder and President of Zam Zam Water, Yusuf Nessary, is giving an update on all the projects completed since the organizations inauguration in 2014. Yusuf's dream and vision of eradicating poverty by providing clean, sustainable water to those in need one well at a time has been given light through Zam Zam Water. To date, our organization has benefited and touched thousands of live in countries such as Uganda, Yemen, and Afghanistan with more projects to come

Zam Zam Water is a volunteer-run organization. Our Zam Zam Crew is comprised of selfless, dedicated, compassionate and caring individuals. Their dedication to the cause is immeasurable and we are so grateful to have such a team! We would like to thank all the Zam Zam volunteers, even those not pictured, for all of their efforts.

We would like to recognize and express our tremendous gratitude to the local business, vendors, and sponsors that accounted for such a significant role in the success of our event. Without their commitment and financial collaboration our event would not have been possible.

We would like to give a special thanks to our largest sponsor Salaam Nutritionals, LLC for partnering and supporting us since the beginning of Ramadan. They sell halal certified gummy vitamins and were generous enough to raise and donate 10% of their proceeds during the month of Ramadan to the Imam Bukhari Orphanage in partnership with Zam Zam Water totaling over $3,000 mashAllah!

In closing, we would like to say that we all feel very fortunate and grateful to be amongst and supported by such a great community. Thank you once again for EVERYONE, local and afar, who made our night a huge success and we hope to make this an annual event.
